Why Soy Candles?
The year was 1991 when a candle maker by the name of Michael Richards discovered a way to make candles that were more cost effective and environmentally friendly than using beeswax: soy wax.
In 1993 Richards began to monetize his revolutionary idea and has even paired with Iowa State researchers to develop waxes that are even more efficient.
Why Soy Wax
- Paraffin is a by product of petroleum and is known to release many toxic chemicals into the air. The two most notable being toulene and benzene. Here is a link that provides more information on what those chemicals are and how they can be harmful. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK532257/
- Soy candles usually have lower traces of residue and soot around the edges than a paraffin candle.
- Soy wax has a much lower melting point than paraffin, so the flame does not burn as hot! This helps by more evenly displacing scent.
Soy wax is made by GoldenBrands, an American Company.
